In the depths of the oceans, where light is difficult to reach, sound has become the only way for marine organisms to communicate and disseminate underwater information. However, increasing noise pollution from marine activities poses a serious threat to these majestic creatures. This proposal aims to address this issue through the introduction of an Ocean Traffic Management System, which is designed to effectively control the movement of vessels, thereby minimising disruption to the whales' migration routes and reducing the impacts of marine noise pollution.

The Ocean Traffic Management System will utilise advanced technology and real-time data analytics from the Traffic Control Hub to monitor vessel movements and by predicting potential conflicts with whale migration routes. Through a combination of vessel and whale tracking, acoustic monitoring and predictive modelling, the OTMS will identify areas where whales are present and signal through the Traffic Hub to prevent vessels from interfering with whales.

The aim of the research is to reduce the impact of noise on whales to allow them to complete their migration, providing a promising solution to protect marine biodiversity and promote sustainable ocean management practices.
